ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) Blueprint


AEC Blueprint is a kind of guide for ASEAN members countries to achieve its objectives in 2015 for ASEAN integration in economic.

AEC characteristics and elements:
1. a single market and production base
2. a highly competitive economic region
3. a region of equitable economic development
4. a region fully integrated into global economy

Here is a presentation about AEC Blueprint that should be presented by Mr. Anggito Abimanyu, Head of Fiscal Policy Office for the 2nd Economic and Business Students' Summit, Faculty of Economy, University of Indonesia, 28 February 2008.

ASEAN Finance Ministers' (AFMM)



Once a year, always in first week of April, all ASEAN Finance Minister gather in a meeting. The meeting itself is called ASEAN Finance Ministers' Meeting (AFMM). Before the meeting is held, there also will be held some previous meeting. They are:
1. ASEAN Central Bank Deputies' Meeting (ACDM),
2. ASEAN Finance Deputies' Meeting (AFDM), and
3. Informal AFMM.

The chair of the meeting is the Minister of Finance in which country the meeting will be held. In 2008, the meeting was held in Da Nang, Vietnam. The 12th AFMM was opened by HE. Nguyen Sinh Hung, Vietnam Vice Prime Minister and led by HE. Vu Van Ninh, Vietnem Finance Minister, as the chairman.

Every meeting will make a joint ministerial statement (JMS). In 12th AFMM JMS, Indonesia asked to input the issue for climate change (HE. Sri Mulyani Indrawati, Indonesia Finance Minister could not attend because of parliamentary meeting, Indonesia delegation is led by Hon. A. Fuad Rahmany, Chairman of Capital Market and Financial Institution Supervisory Agency). Climate change threat not only environment, but also global economic. The Finance Ministers have the important role by financial and fiscal policy to follow up the High Level Event on Climate Change for Finance Ministers (HLECC-FM) in Bali, December 2007 to formulate policy and cooperation in climate change adaptation and mitigation.

Begin from 2009, AFMM process will based on single chairmanship as in ASEAN Summit Process pole. So, the chairman for the 13th AFMM is Thailand.

ADB's Board of Government Annual Meeting 2009


2008 Asian Development Bank (ADB) Board of Governors Annual Meeting in Madrid has agreed that in 2009 the meeting will be held in Bali, Indonesia.
ADB Governor for Indonesia, Minister of Finance, Sri Mulyani Indrawati could not attend the meeting in Madrid, but, she expressed her speech in order to turn over the host from Spain to Indonesia by video.

The annual meeting will be held on 2-5 May 2009 at Westin, Nusa Dua, Bali.
Besides the board of governors meeting, there will be business session, Indonesian Day, and ASEAN Day.

ASEAN Charter

ASEAN Charter was signed on 20 November 2007 in Singapore. The signining event is at the annual Head of State and Government meeting. The copy is only one and saved in ASEAN Secretariat.
ASEAN Charter consist of: thirteen chapters and fivty five articles. The chapters are:
1. Purposes and principles
2. Legal personality
3. Memberships
4. Organs
5. Entities associated with ASEAN
6. Immunity and priviliges
7. Decision-making
8. Settlement and disputes
9. Budget and finance
10. Administration and procedures
11. Identity and symbols
12. External relations
13. General and final provisions
The charter was signed noting with satisfaction the significant achievements and expansion of ASEAN since its establishment in Bangkok through the promulgation of the ASEAN Declaration. Recalling the decisions to establish an ASEAN Charter in Vientiane Action Programme (VAP), the Kuala Lumpur Declaration on the Establisment of the ASEAN Charter and Cebu Declaration on the Blueprint of the ASEAN Charter. Mindful the existance of mutual interests and interdependence of ASEAN which are bound by geography, common objectives, and shared destiny. Inspired by and united under One Vision, One Identity, and One Caring and Sharing Community. United by a common desire and collective will to live in a region of lasting peace, security, stability, sustained economic growth, shared prosperity and social progress, and to promote vital interests, ideals, and aspirations.
The signing also respected the fundamental importance of amity and cooperation, and the principles of sovereignity, equality, territorial integrity, non-interfence, consensus, and unity in diversity.

ASEAN



ASEAN, or Association of Southeast Asian Nations is established in 8 August 1967.
ASEAN now has ten members, alphabetically:
Brunei Darussalam
Cambodia
Indonesia
Lao PDR
Malaysia
Myanmar
Philippines
Singapore
Thailand
Vietnam

ASEAN members now is trying to achieve their commitments in economic in 2015, known as ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) Blueprint. AEC is one of three part of ASEAN community, the two are: ASEAN Security Community and ASEAN Socio-cultural Community.
